AB Collective Healing was born from a deep, personal calling: to hold compassionate space for healing in a world that often forgets how much pain people carry, especially the kind that lives quietly beneath the surface.
Rooted in Lived Experience
My journey into this work did not begin in a textbook or therapy room, but in lived experience. Growing up as a Sri Lankan Tamil woman during the civil war, I came to understand what it means to carry stories of displacement, fear, loss, silence, and survival. I also witnessed the profound shift that occurs when those stories are finally seen, named, and heard.
Because of this history, I bring a deep sensitivity to culture, context, and language. I understand how pain can be shaped and often silenced by gender dominance, cultural expectations, migration, and inherited experiences. I offer therapy in both English and Tamil, creating a space where you can speak in the language that feels most natural and safe.
Facilitating Discovery, Not Rescuing
Healing is rarely linear. There is no single method that works for everyone.
My role is not to fix or rescue, nor do I position myself as the expert in your life. Instead, I walk alongside you as you explore and make sense of your story particularly the parts shaped by unprocessed pain or internalised beliefs.
I work relationally and pluralistically, drawing flexibly from person-centred, psychodynamic, narrative, CBT, compassion-focused, and trauma-informed approaches guided by what feels most helpful and meaningful for you.
Rather than focusing solely on diagnostic labels, I attend to the emotional, relational, and physiological patterns that often underlie many difficulties.
At its heart, healing is not about fixing what is broken. It is about reconnecting with what has always been there - your strength, meaning, and capacity for change.
Culture, Power & Intergenerational Experience
My work is grounded in an awareness of culture, migration, power dynamics, and generational patterns, including the impact of gender-based and relational violence.
My doctoral research explores intergenerational trauma among Sri Lankan Tamils, examining how collective history, displacement, and inherited narratives shape identity and wellbeing.
Through advocacy and therapeutic work, I have supported women of diverse ethnic groups in recognising their self-worth, reconnecting with their inner strength, and understanding the value they hold within themselves and in society.
The Body–Mind Connection
Healing often goes beyond words.
Difficult experiences can become ingrained not only in the mind but also in the body and nervous system. Where appropriate, and always collaboratively, we may incorporate neuroscience-informed and body-based practices to support emotional regulation and steadiness. These may include breath-based techniques, grounding practices, mindfulness, or gentle sound-based tools.
Alongside psychological approaches, I am training in Pranic Healing, which offers an additional lens for understanding energy, embodiment, and subtle layers of healing. These elements are always optional and guided by your comfort.
My Professional Path
My work has taken me across borders — from post-war Sri Lanka to diverse communities across the UK. For over 16 years, I have supported individuals and communities within NGOs, charities, and the NHS.
I have worked with people navigating emotional pain, gender-based violence, war-related experiences, depression, anxiety, grief, and major life transitions.
Much of my work focuses on trauma, particularly where it intersects with culture, migration, power, and identity. I hold space for those reclaiming their voices, especially those negotiating identity and belonging, and for individuals carrying the often unspoken weight of inherited trauma.
